2. Personal Data We Process
UNQVerify is designed with a strong focus on data minimization.
We do not process or store:
  • CPR numbers or national identification numbers
  • Names, addresses, or other direct identity information
  • Copies of MitID credentials or authentication data
    • In connection with age verification, we may process:
  • Verification status (e.g. “verified” / “not verified”)
  • Timestamp of the verification
  • Technical metadata (such as session identifiers, hashes, or tokens)
    • The processed data cannot be used to directly identify an individual.
    3. Purpose of Processing
    Personal data is processed solely for the following purposes:
  • To verify whether a user meets an applicable age requirement
  • To document that an age verification has taken place
  • To provide the service to our business customers
  • To comply with applicable legal obligations
    • 4. Legal Basis
    The processing of personal data is based on:
  • Article 6(1)(b) of the GDPR (performance of a contract)
  • Article 6(1)(c) of the GDPR (compliance with a legal obligation)
    • 5. Use of MitID
    When MitID is used, all identification and authentication are performed directly by MitID and its service providers.
    UNQVerify receives only a confirmation of whether the required age threshold has been met. We do not receive or store information that can identify the user.
    6. Disclosure of Personal Data
    We do not disclose personal data to third parties unless:
  • it is necessary to provide the service, or
  • disclosure is required by applicable law.
    • Where relevant, data processors (such as hosting and infrastructure providers) are used under data processing agreements.
    7. Data Retention
    Personal data is stored only for as long as necessary to fulfill the stated purposes and in accordance with applicable law.
    Verification-related data is generally stored for a limited period and may be anonymized or deleted automatically.
    8. Security
    We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect personal data against unauthorized access, loss, or misuse.

    Users have the right to:
  • Request access to their personal data
  • Request rectification of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion, where applicable
  • Request restriction of processing

    10. Shopify App Integration
    10.1 Shopify-Specific Data Processing
    When UNQVerify is used as a Shopify app, we additionally process limited technical information required to operate the app within the Shopify platform.
    This may include:
  • Shop domain (e.g. yourstore.myshopify.com)
  • App configuration data (stored as Shopify metafields)
  • OAuth session tokens provided by Shopify
    • This data is used solely to authenticate the app, associate the service with a specific store, and ensure correct operation.  
    All Shopify-related data is automatically deleted when the app is uninstalled from the store.
    10.2 Data Storage and Location
    All data processed by UNQVerify is stored on secure servers located within the European Union.
    We use trusted infrastructure providers, including:
  • Vercel (application hosting)
  • Neon PostgreSQL (database services)
    • Appropriate technical and organizational measures are implemented to ensure data security and compliance with applicable data protection laws.
    10.3 Browser Storage (Cookies and Local Storage)
    To improve the user experience, the UNQVerify Shopify app may store limited, non-identifying data in the user’s browser.
    This includes:
  • Temporary verification status stored in the browser’s local storage
    • The data is used to prevent repeated age verification during a single shopping session.  
    The information is automatically deleted after a short period (typically within one hour) or when the browser cache is cleared.
    No personal data is stored in cookies or local storage.
    10. Changes to This Policy
    We reserve the right to update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The most current version will always be available on our website.
